Digital Signage reinforces a fresh brand identity at Standard Boekhandel
Discover how Standaard Boekhandel, a beloved name in the Belgian book retail scene, has undergone a complete rebranding and modernized its physical spaces to deliver a more connected and cohesive customer experience.
Standaard Boekhandel, a beloved name in the Belgian book retail scene, has undergone a complete rebranding, starting with a flagship store and quickly expanding to additional locations. Alongside a new logo and visual identity, the bookstore chain is modernizing its physical spaces to deliver a more connected and cohesive customer experience.
A key piece of this transformation? Digital signage, thoughtfully implemented by their technology partner, DOBIT, and powered by Dise’s IXM platform.
A fresh chapter in Ghent and beyond
The 900 m² flagship store on the Kouter in Ghent was the first to reflect the new design direction. But it’s just the beginning. Standaard Boekhandel is now rolling out the new concept across its store network, combining contemporary materials and a warm color palette to create an inviting atmosphere. At the same time, the company is integrating digital touchpoints in shop windows and at checkout areas to enhance communication and support the refreshed identity.
“We’re not only transforming the Ghent location but updating dozens of other stores as well,” says Guido De Smet, Sales Director at Standaard Boekhandel. “This includes modernizing storefront displays, category indication, and our overall branding, with digital screens playing a key role.”
Strategic digital touchpoints, seamlessly integrated
The new store concept was brought to life with DOBIT providing the digital expertise. “We collaborated closely with the team from Standaard Boekhandel, walking through digital signage examples in Antwerp, sharing learnings, and refining the concept,” explains Nele Bruers, CEO of DOBIT.
At the heart of the digital in-store solution is Dise’s IXM platform, which gives Standaard Boekhandel the flexibility to manage content dynamically across locations, highlighting books, sharing campaigns, and reinforcing brand messaging, all while ensuring a smooth, scalable in-store experience.
Reimagining an icon: the owl takes flight
One of the standout elements of the rebrand is a modernized version of the store’s iconic owl logo. Retaining its heritage while embracing a bolder color scheme and focus on books, the new logo strikes a balance between tradition and modernity.
“Our creative team, Studio Bamm-it, brought the refreshed owl to life through animation, enabling more engaging visual storytelling on-screen,” says Nele Bruers. “It adds a layer of dynamism to Standaard Boekhandel’s campaigns, aligning digital content with the physical transformation.”
Partner-driven innovation
This transformation showcases what’s possible when design, technology, and retail strategy come together through strong partnerships. With DOBIT’s expertise and the Dise IXM platform powering the in-store experience, Standaard Boekhandel is delivering a smarter, more engaging store environment—one that’s ready to meet the evolving needs of today’s book lovers.
